Paris is one of my absolute favourite cities. It never gets boring. Every time I go back, I discover new things - and see things that I have to remember for my next visit. For me, there's something magical about the city. Sure, the city is touristy and doesn't always have much to do with the cliché of the romantic city of love. And yet: for me, it remains magical. I could sit for hours in a café in Montmartre, sipping a glass of rosé and people-watching. And I admit that a French chanson is constantly playing in my head when I do that (so much for clichés...). But enough raving now. I want to let the pictures do the talking. They were taken during my last visit in June. And here are a few of my latest tips for a visit to Paris.
- My latest culinary discovery is the Patoche brewery in the Montmartre district. A microbrewery with delicious beer, including a pink sour beer. I loved it! The whole area around the brewery and the rue des trois frères offers numerous restaurants and cafés and is ideal for a nice evening out!
- Whenever we are in Paris, we have to go to the market on Rue Daguerre. There are wonderful vegetables, cheeses - and fresh seafood (as a vegetarian, I've been told that the oysters at the Ledreux restaurant are delicious).
- Very touristy, but also very interesting are the Catacombs of Paris, 20 meters below the city. Here are the remains of several million Parisians who were brought here after the Parisian cemeteries were abandoned. Well worth a visit! Be sure to book early, tickets are limited and very popular!
- Another very cool district is the Marais, known for its many great restaurants and stores. Vintage fans in particular are guaranteed to get their money's worth here (visit the Rue du Renard in particular!). One of our favorite places is also the canal at the Passerelle des Douanes. This place is somewhat Amsterdam-like, where you can sit by the river and enjoy an aperitif. Wonderful!
- Paris is big and there is a lot to see. Although the metro network is very good, it is much nicer to see something during the journey. Unfortunately, e-trotinettes were recently banned again, but we have had good experiences with rental bikes. "Lime" has proven to be a good provider. So be sure to download the Lime app in advance - then you can take a bike almost anywhere and park it again. A very easy and cool way to explore the city! And the cycle paths are also well developed - so Paris by bike is really fun!
