Normally, I don't write about the day trips I do on weekends. But this one was so special and cool that I just have to tell you about: We went for an alpaca walk today!  I booked this activity through the homepage of the farm where the activity is offered (--> Link) . The farm of Andi & Sarah Rüedi is located in Ortschwaben, a little village only 10 minutes from Bern.   We were greeted warmly by Andi and immediately led to the stable, where a large herd of alpacas curiously looked at us. We fell in love immediately with those cute animals!  Alpacas originally come from the high Andes of South America. There they were bred by the Incas over many years as a wool supplier. Some weeks ago I had the chance to do a shorttrip to Gothenburg, Swedens second biggest city. Because I love Stockholm so much, I naturally had very high expectations of its "little sister". Too bad it was raining almost the whole weekend. Nevertheless, I liked the city very much. Although it has a little less charm than Stockholm and has less sightseeings, Gothenburg is ideal for a shopping weekend and a paradise for all those who like me love to stroll from café to café and eat cinnamon rolls up to dangerously high blood sugar levels. One thing I always have to do when I'm in a nordic country is to take a ferry to an island in the archipelago. That was the first thing that I did when I arrived in Gothenburg - jumping into a tram that brought me to the ferry station. I visited the cute island of Brännö . I would not have thought that I would be there again so soon after my last trip to the north of Germany (--> Link ). But who explores the Baltic Sea has to discover the North Sea as well! And so it happened that I had the chance to spend a great weekend at the North Sea recently. Here is my travelogue.  It's relatively easy to get to the North Sea. By train or plane to Hamburg, then from there by rental car. After not even 2 hours drive we already reached Sankt Peter-Ording , the sand paradise of the North Sea. Where else do you find a 12 km long sandy beach in Germany? The city is quite big and has grown together from 4 districts. Everywhere there are small shops and restaurants, it is nice to stroll around. And: Perfect to find shelter when it rains like cats and dogs.
